This year, once again, the Italian Union for Sustainable Palm Oil took part in the Sustainable Development Festival promoted by ASviS (Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development), with an online event on 5 October (10.30 am – 12.30 pm). The aim of this event is to increase knowledge and raise awareness on sustainable development themes and to share and stimulate ideas and policies in line with the 2030 Agenda. fostering an active and constructive dialogue on the challenges connected with the theme of climate change and with the achievement of the goals of the Paris Climate Accords.
The answers to some crucial questions were sought. Can sustainable palm oil provide a response to the growing demand for vegetable oils? What are the most effective and coherent options for pursuing the zero deforestation goal?
The most recent studies conducted on the environmental and socio-economic impacts of the palm oil supply chain, as well as the latest regulatory developments on deforestation incorporated at the EU level, were presented and discussed.
