Sustainable palm oil: responsible consumption and production

The cycle of virtual events organized by the Italian Union for Sustainable Palm Oil on the occasion of the Sustainable Development Festival promoted by ASviS ends on Tuesday 23 May 2023 (11:00-12:00) with the third webinar, dedicated to Goal 12, which aims to guarantee sustainable models of production and consumption that mirror each other and are interdependent.

As stated in the ASviS Position Paper: “There is no sustainable production without conscious and critical consumption: the commitment of companies towards responsible production processes is strengthened and consolidated by the market premium of conscious citizens who appreciate economic, social and environmental sustainability.”

How does the RSPO standard for voluntary sustainability certification of palm oil relate to the new provisions of the regulation on imported deforestation (EUDR)? How important it is to stimulate and guarantee correct consumer information on sustainability, and what are the prospects offered by the recent EU regulatory proposals on communication about sustainability and green claims?

This event will also be an opportunity to present the project promoted by Cittadinanzattiva on “Sustainable nutrition and the fight against food waste” which will aim to increase consumer awareness of the issues of sustainable nutrition, the importance of certified supply chains, and the need to reduce food losses.
