On the occasion of the Sustainable Development Festival organised by ASviS, which will be taking place from 22 September to 8 October 2020 throughout Italy and on internet, the Italian Union for Sustainable Palm Oil has organised an online event for 7 October.

The aim is to join with authoritative international experts to take an in-depth look at the global challenges and opportunities connected with the production and responsible consumption of palm oil and its contribution to achieving the SDGs, by protecting forests and biodiversity, boosting fair socio-economic development conditions in the global supply chain and providing a sustainable response to the growing need to feed the planet.

The event will be opened by Giuseppe Allocca, President of the Italian Union for Sustainable Palm Oil, and moderated by Giorgio Donegani, a food technologist and expert in nutrition and food education. The program will feature contributions from the world of academia, representatives of the main associations, and non-governmental organisations working for a sustainable development of the palm oil sector.

Sustainable nutrition, protection of forests and biodiversity, certification systems, socio-economic impacts of the palm oil supply chain and the role of consumers are just some of the issues that will be discussed by the experts involved.
